MARK BLUNDELL HEADS TO CROFT FOR NEXT BTCC CHALLENGE

This weekend will see former Le Mans 24 Hour winner Mark Blundell return to action in this year’s British Touring Car Championship, as the grid heads to Croft Circuit in North Yorkshire for Rounds 10, 11 & 12.

Blundell and the Trade Price Cars Racing team will head to North Yorkshire aiming to improve a recent run of difficult results. However, with more valuable track time and experience gained in his previous outing at Thruxton, Mark will be hoping for an upturn in his results this weekend.

A combination of bad luck and mechanical issues plagued the 53-year-old’s race weekend last time out at Thruxton, with the former Formula 1 star only able to complete one full-race distance across the weekend.

One major change that has taken place at Croft Circuit since the BTCC’s previous visit in 2018 is the resurfacing of the entire 2.13-mile track, which means all the drivers will be facing a different feel on-track this weekend.

Despite a long and varied career within domestic and international, elite-level motorsport, this weekend marks Blundell’s first ever competitive outing at the North Yorkshire track. Excited to get back behind the wheel of his #8 HP-sponsored Audi S3, Mark added:

“The last two weekends at Donington and Thruxton have both been very challenging for myself and the team," Mark said. "We were unlucky with a number of issues at Thruxton, but hopefully it will be a different story this weekend in Croft.

“I always knew how tough the transition into the championship would be, but hopefully this weekend we can show what we’ve been working on behind the scenes and start heading in the right direction. Everyone involved in the programme has been putting in an immense effort so I am hopeful we will see the results of these efforts on track this weekend.”

Action at the Croft Circuit will commence with qualifying at 15:05 on Saturday the 15th, with all three races taking place on Sunday. Race one will get underway at 12:05, followed by race two at 14:40, with the final instalment at 17:05.
